何建国湖南邰阳人。擅长中国画、水彩画、水粉画。就读于华中艺专，5 十年代初在广西军区从事美术创作，1952年调地方 旧事 纪录电影制片厂从事美术设计、1 级美术师。作品水彩画《幸福的园地》获1956年全国青年美展优秀奖，电影宣扬 画有《梅兰芳》、《百花争艳》、《苏联芭蕾舞艺术》、《毛主席是我们心中红太阳》等。电影美术设计曾获“百花奖”及“金鸡奖”。
