谢丁玉，1935年7月生，别名谢鼎钰，湖南长沙人。第1 任湖南省漫画学会会长，中国美术家协会湖南分会常务理事，湖南省漫画学会创始人，中国美术家协会会员。曾担任过第六届全国美展漫画评委会副主任。
谢丁玉先生1956年从事报纸工作，开始漫画创作。1963年到湖南日报社任美术编辑，主任编辑，后任美术组组长。1980年创办《刺玫瑰》漫画报任主编，1981年1月创刊号问世，通过此平台培养出了大批漫画家。他还掌管 开办了面向全国的“刺玫瑰”漫画函授班，许多名漫画家都参加过这个函授班。
谢丁玉先生主编的《怎样把漫画学到手》、《漫画技法与构思》等书籍，也深受漫画作者爱好 。他的漫画代表作品有《白卷》、《迎贵宾》、《1 叶障目》等，他的漫画作品获过全国好旧事 奖(此奖后改中国旧事 奖)和获“首届湖南十杰漫画家”荣誉。
谢丁玉先生的开拓创新精神强，不仅将湖南漫画活动搞得有声有色，还是八十年代全国很有影响力的漫画活动家。在他的努力下，改革开放后全国第1 次美展的漫画展在湖南展出，他发起改革开放以来首次全国漫画创作学术座谈会在长沙召开。在此次会议上，38名漫画作者联名致函中国美术家协会，建议在中国美协领导下迅速建立“中国漫画研讨 会”。会议结束时，会议全体代表草拟了《向全国漫画家的致意信》，号召全国漫画家“携起手来，共同为繁荣漫画艺术事业而努力奋斗!”这次会议对我国漫画创作和理论建设，起到了无力 的推动作用。
暮年 谢丁玉虽然身体欠佳，但对漫画事业任很执着。2006年12月19日至21日，他最初 1 次出席由湖南省美术家协会主办、湖南省美协漫画艺委会、湖南美术馆承办的新世纪湖南省首届漫画大展。谢丁玉先生在女儿搀扶下参加了开幕式，第二天再由妻子扶着来到展厅，坐在椅子上，慢慢将全部的画看了1 遍，第三天本身 又来参观了1 遍。谢丁玉这类 对漫画事业的执着精神永久 值得漫画同仁怀念和敬仰!
湖南省漫画界老前辈谢丁玉先生于2008年7月4日凌晨5时47分因病在长沙逝世，享年73岁。
